Exploring Life & Business with Myriam & Jean Dandonneau

Mademoiselle Paris is the baby of Jean and Myriam who left the Paris region to try their luck in the United States by opening a bakery-pastry shop and restaurant in Bradenton. You can enjoy croissants, mille-feuilles and other religious dishes, but also duck with orange sauce, scallop risotto and beef bourguignon... Not to mention the weekend concerts and, every month, a wine tasting based on a region of France. With the success, they even opened two other bakeries in Sarasota and Anna Maria!

We’ll always have Paris in Sarasota, thanks to Myriam and Jean Dandonneau, the husband and wife team behind Mademoiselle Paris French Restaurant and Bakery. While they worked in engineering and computer science fields in their native France, Myriam and Jean shared a passion for gastronomy. After visiting Florida, the pair decided to sell everything in France and opened Mademoiselle Paris in Sarasota in 2016.

The concept has grown into three restaurants located at University Town Center, Anna Maria Island and Main Street in Downtown Sarasota. “Each location is completely different,” says Jean. “Anna Maria is decorated in an island style, Main Street is like a little bakery in France and UTC is more modern and airy.”

Jean Dandonneau stands in front of diners at Mademoiselle Paris’ Anna Maria Island location. He shares fun facts about one of the wines featured in that evening’s wine-tasting dinner, punctuated by lively tunes from an accordion player. Jean and his wife Myriam own Mademoiselle Paris, which has three restaurants, and host these dinners every month at their University Town Center and Anna Maria Island eateries. For anyone not afforded the opportunity to advance past French class basics, the Dandonneaus offer the chance to take a deep dive into French food and culture.
